What We Do
We are a group of food professionals who represent a broad spectrum of the milk and food industries, including milk cooperatives, dairy and food processing plants, regulatory agencies, academia, dairy and food laboratories, and others.
Our Mission
The Pennsylvania Association for Food Protection (Formerly PAMFES) is an affiliate of the International Association for Food Protection, whose mission is to advance food safety in Pennsylvania.
Our Objectives
Provide a forum for professionals working in the area of food safety and quality.
Improve the professional status of the members.
Assist members in their technical work and professional development.
Disseminate information regarding the protection of the food supply.
Promote sanitary methods and procedures for the development, production, processing, distribution, preparation and serving of food.
Promote methods and procedures for supervision and inspection of the production, processing, distribution, preparation and serving of food.
Promote improved methods for the examination of food samples.
Promote the development and adoption of uniform equipment and quality standards to improve the sanitary handling of food.
Promote methods and procedures and improving the food supply.
Cooperate with other professional groups in the improvement and promotion of food safety.
Study and strive for uniformity of laboratory procedures and field inspection criteria through the cooperation with industry, state, and federally regulatory organizations.
Our Constitution and Bylaws
In 2021 and 2022, our executive committee worked on updating the PAFP bylaws for both the name change to our group and other misc. updates needed. These bylaws provide the necessary framework for our organization and helps us pursue our mission. Members and those interested may view the Constitution at any time.

Our parent organization, IAFP, The International Association of Food Protection is a member-based association of more than 4,000 food safety professionals committed to Advancing Food Safety Worldwide® by providing food safety professionals worldwide with a forum to exchange information on protecting the food supply.
